Its hard to say if the next big reunion is our 25th or our 30th. That will be up to John McClendon, Susanne (Long) Kibodeaux, and Tim Smith. It will be a while before that is decided. Remember that reunions take alot of planning.
However, I am thinking of having some informal gettogethers that don't take much planning. We will meet as a group and go to a billies football game, with dinner before or after the game. If this works out, this could become an annual event. But we will try this out and see. E-mail me (Bryan) if you have opinions on this.
Will any pictures or videos from the reunion be posted?
Yes they will be. Will Thomasson will be helping with the pictures. I will be posting some videos once my brother-in-law returns from vacation (he has the know-how). Kevin Wooldridge is an assistant webmaster, so he will contribute some additional material.
Why did you create the website?
I felt that we needed a better way of keeping up with each other. Also a great way to share reunion pictures and videos. I also have developed a class database with security functionality so that class members can have access to other class members' information (such as address, emails, and phone numbers).
Is this website owned or sanctioned by the Monticello School District?
No. While I know several employees that are are aware of this website's existence, noone in the district has any involvement or ownership of this website. Furthermore, they have indicated that due to state law, they cannot even put a link to this website from the official district website. But the good thing about being independent is you get to do just about anything you want and not ask permission. While we cannot have links to this site from the school website, we will be looking at other ways the school can get class members in touch with us.
Are websites expensive? How much does this cost you?
I am currently paying about $9.95 a month for hosting this website. I pay $8.75 a year for DNS registration (in plain English, thats how much it costs me to have the name www.billies1986.org registered on the Internet). Bear in mind also that since I have alot of unused space, I use some of it to backup some non-website files. I also benefit by having the opportunity to learn how to build websites. I learn more each time I work on this. For those reasons, I don't expect or demand donations from others, but if anyone wishes to do so, please click the link on the left bar called "Adopt A Month". It will give you all the details on donating.
I am not sure I want to have my personal information on this website.
First of all, I don't require anyone to submit their personal information. Thats optional, but highly recommended if you want your classmates to know where you are (once we have enough of them checking your website). When you do submit your personal information, you can choose whether all class members get to view the information, or only class planners and administrators. You can change that setting at anytime. But the rule is if the individual is not a class member and I don't know him, then he doesn't get access. For more information, check out the Privacy Policy.
I have some suggestions for improving this webpage.
I am open to ideas. If you have some, just email me by clicking the email links on the bottom of the left menu bar.If you are proficient at webpage design and want to contribute some time to making this website look better, we can work that out too.
